It's been a year and a half that I left Iran. However I am following the political issues constantly but there is a certain sense that I have become more and more detached to. I really don't know if it is wise to participate or not in the up coming parliamentary elections on Friday. But what I know and makes me to post a blog after almost a year, is that I think and strongly believe that there is no other proper way rather than slow reform for the Iran's movement toward democracy. I know this dialogue has become more and more old fashioned since reformists have used it for years to persuade people for participating in several elections, but I can't forget the second Iranian elections for municipalities and local Parliaments ( a.k.a Shoraye Shahr) which led to the election of Ahmadinejad as the mayor of Tehran. That election which was sadly boycotted by the Iranian citizens was by far, the most democratic Iranian election since the parliamentary election that led to Mohammad Mosadegh's era. All the parties with different backgrounds and different values had their Representatives. From hardliners to the Mosadegh's followers. I think we are experiencing this situation now because we started to boycott the elections at that time. Again, I am not, unfortunately, grasping the sense of election, but even with this diluted version of reformists I still strongly feel that we need to participate.

An old man and his wife are the managers of the building I have rented here in Vancouver. The man who has cancer is more cool and less serious about everything in comparison to his wife. There is a sort of law in the building that no one is allowed to take his or her bike in to the elevator and has to live it in the storage. Today when a guy took his bike into the building saw the manager and told him, I would pay 50 dollars you don't tell your wife I took my bike into the building. Lloyd, the manager , said I woudl give you 1000 if you kill her.

I am watching the Australian Open Tennis Final. Roger Federer, as expected, devastated Gonzales.
This is the first Grand Slam I remember that Andre Aggasi is not in. With his farewell I think a major part of my live has finished. I feel old when the heros of my childhood reach to the end line. The first one for me was Urgen Klinsman, I am sure the spelling is wrong and the second is Aggasi now. I remember the days I was a kid and he started, the days in school he was competing Sampras, in University, It seemed that he is there forever. Oh I forgot, The Usopen 2 yeard ago, I was in Turkey with Negah in our honeymoon and he was still great though lost the final to Federer.
I was his fan and however he was not a special person for me character wise, he remind me of childhood and the days I was younger.
I hate Federer however I am sure he wins today, he leads 2-0 now and plays great. But each time he wins, it seems for me I'm getting older.

Sirous quoted me in his last post and I thought it would be good to write something here for those who may click on me.
The last post was at Xmas time and I have started graduate studies a week ago. I hadn't ever thought to be he oldest graduate student ever. For me who was always at least 1 year younger than other collogues is a new experience.

I will be more specific about the differences between te education in Iran and North America. But for the time being, the rest rooms in Iran are much better, just kidding.
